  • The performance is fast paced and engaging - filled with the great scenes of Shakespeare, valuable information about his world, popular misconceptions and an exploration of language
  • The experience of seeing and hearing Shakespeare in performance will surprise, delight and help students to understand the attraction of Shakespeare.
  • Your audience will understand every word. They will get the jokes and be moved by the stories. Shakespeare Alive smashes the language barrier and leaves students excited by language's power and wanting more Shakespeare.

Shakespeare Into Action! is a series of interactive workshops led by our professional actors that get students onto their feet and into the words! Workshops offer a special opportunity for students to incorporate their own ideas and interpretations developing a long lasting personal relationship with Shakespeare's language and stories.

Designed to follow our Shakespeare Alive! performance, these workshops can also stand on their own or can be expanded to create a full residency and are tailored specifically for each age.

The 2008 Shakespeare Alive! School Tour presents:
WILD AND WHIRLING WORDS

WWW

An incredible hit with students and teachers alike, Wild and Whirling Words is a 55-minute journey through Shakespeare with scenes from 10 plays, 2 sword fights, 1 sonnet, and a goat! Wild and Whirling Words uses Shakespeare as a means to impress upon the audience the importance and power of words. It is fast-paced, fun, and interactive, with multiple opportunities for the audience to feel like an important and vociferous part of the show. Each performance includes a complimentary study guide to help teachers incorporate the play's material into their lesson planning. This year's study guide draws specific attention to the connections between the Shakespeare scenes in our performance and the six pillars of good character as described by the Character Counts program. A 45-minute interactive workshop for up to 40 students per classroom, led by our professional actors, can be added to any performance of Wild and Whirling Words for a small additional fee.

Our Shakespeare Alive! School Tour will kick off February 19, 2008 and run until June 6.
