Shakespeare In School

Shakespeare Alive! School Tour 2010

March 1 – June 1, 2010

Bring the passion, magic and poetry of the world’s greatest playwright alive, into action and straight to your door with an educational tour perfect for young minds.

Shakespeare Alive! is a fast-paced interactive introduction to Shakespeare’s plays and world.

  • The performance is a fully produced and highly theatrical production with costumes, set and sound (your venue shines the lights). Perfect for most venues form theater to cafetorium to gym.
  • Professional company members bring Shakespeare’s plays and poetry to life with passion, humor and expertise.
  • The performance is fast-paced and engaging, filled with the great scenes of Shakespeare, valuable information about his world and an exploration of language.
  • The experience of seeing and hearing Shakespeare in performance will surprise, delight and help students to understand the attraction of Shakespeare.
  • Your audience will understand every word. They will get the jokes and be moved by the stories. Shakespeare Alive! smashes the language barrier and leaves students excited by language’s power and wanting more Shakespeare.

Shakespeare Into Action! is a series of interactive workshops led by our professional actors that get students onto their feet and into the words!

  • Workshops offer a special opportunity for students to incorporate their own ideas and interpretations, developing a long-lasting, personal relationship with Shakespeare’s language and stories.
  • Designed to follow our Shakespeare Alive! performance, these workshops can also stand on their own or can be expanded to create a full residency and are tailored specifically for each age.

The 2010 Shakespeare Alive! School Tour presents:

WILL POWER!

Like its predecessor, Wild and Whirling Words, WILL POWER! Is a 55-minute journey through Shakespeare’s greatest hits, with special attention given to those plays in the Maryland Middle School Curriculum. WILL POWER! explores how Shakespeare used words and the power of telling the truth. It is fast-paced, fun and interactive, with multiple opportunities for the audience to feel like an important and vocal part of the show.

Each performance includes a complimentary study guide to help teachers incorporate the play’s material into their lesson planning. This year’s study guide draws specific attention to the connections between the Shakespeare scenes in our performance and the six pillars of good character described by the Character Counts program. A 45-minute interactive workshop for up to 40 students per classroom, led by our professional actors, can be added to any performance of WILL POWER! For a small additional fee.

Our Shakespeare Alive! School Tour will kick off MARCH 1 and run through JUNE 1.

Prices for the 2010 Season:

$750 for a single performance

$1000 for two performances on the same day

Add 1 workshop for up to 40 students for $100, or 2 workshops for $150

Multiple (3 or more) performances or workshop prices can be negotiated on a school-by-school basis.
