The 2012 Shakespeare Alive! School Tour.

A 45-minute journey through Shakespeare’s greatest hits, with special attention given to those plays in the Maryland Middle School Curriculum.

SHAKESPEARE ALIVE! explores how Shakespeare used words and the power of telling the truth. It is fast-paced, fun and interactive, with multiple opportunities for the audience to feel like an important and vocal part of the show.

Introducing Bare Bard on the Road!
An In-School Program for High Schools— The Bare Bard Experience!

  • October/ November 2011— Julius Caesar
  • March/April 2012— The Merchant of Venice

An eight session residency that includes a student production of Julius Caesar or The Merchant of Venice.

Shakespearean scholars generally agree that Shakespeare’s company rehearsed very little and the actors brought it all together to create a cohesive story. Maryland Shakespeare Festival’s Bare Bard is an artistic methodology that replicates low direction, low rehearsal and high ensemble and teaches the high school students the joy of Shakespeare’s art and language.

Actors/Teachers teach students how to build an ensemble and production using MSF’s Bare Bard techniques of Elizabethan stage practices. The residency culminates with students performing their own production with limited costumes, set and props.

Both offered plays are on the high school reading list and workshops can be customized to meet curriculum needs.

$1200 for the workshop series (discount for multiple class bookings).
