A fierce tempest maroons a ship on the shores of a desert island . . . and the passengers soon discover that things are not what they seem on this isle of sorcery, spirits, and walking, talking sea-monsters. The Tempest is William Shakespeare’s thrilling tale of first love and sibling rivalry . . . told like you’ve never seen it before by Maryland Shakespeare Festival’s Riotous Youth!
The Riotous Youth program puts the classics in the hands of Maryland youth, teaching them to channel their own truth and experience into Shakespeare’s language and to bring the words alive with the kind of uninhibited energy that only a kid can muster. See what happens when these students are set free from their desks and turned loose in the dreamscape of Prospero’s island.
The Tempest will perform at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Frederick at 15 West Patrick Street on Friday, November 18th at 8 p.m. and on Saturday, November 19th at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. A post-show discussion with the audience, director, and young actors will follow the Saturday matinee. Tickets are $10. Reserve in advance by calling (301) 668-4090. For directions, click here.
