11/21 – 11/22/09 Forbidden Love Twisted by Jealousy in Othello

Maryland Shakespeare Festival’s Season of Forbidden Love continues with Shakespeare’s psychological thriller, Othello. Join the professional company on a journey through love won by words and lost by betrayal.

What better way to explore this tale of the power of language to both create and destroy than with a Bare Bard?  As part of Maryland Shakespeare Festival’s ongoing experiment on Shakespeare’s original practices, the actors will perform with very little rehearsal, trusting instead the strength of Shakespeare’s words and the immediacy of the story to bring the world of Othello alive. As Frederick audiences have come to expect and love, the Bare Bards are “edge of your seat” theatre—and the perfect medium for the cunning, passion, and terror of Othello.

Othello appears for two performances only! Saturday, November 21st at 8pm and Sunday, November 22nd at 2pm. A discussion will follow Sunday’s performance. No two performances are ever the same, so come twice!
