Kate has never met a guy more obnoxious than Petruchio . . . and Petruchio has never met his match before Kate! Maryland Shakespeare Festival’s Riotous Youth presents the rollicking tale of a couple so meant-to-be that they can hardly stand each other: The Taming of the Shrew!
MSF’s Riotous Youth program puts the classics in the hands of Maryland students age 10 to 18, teaching them to channel their own truth and experience into Shakespeare’s language and to bring the words alive with the kind of uninhibited energy that only a teenager can muster. And nobody knows hot-and-cold relationships like teenagers, so join Riotous Youth as they take you on a journey through the ups, downs, ins, outs, and upside-downs of Kate and Petruchio’s raucous courtship!
The Taming of the Shrew will perform at the Cultural Arts Center in downtown Frederick at 15 West Patrick Street on Friday, May 20th at 8 p.m. and on Saturday, May 21st at 2 p.m. and 8 p.m. For the first time after a Riotous Youth performance, a post-show discussion with the audience, director, and young actors will follow the Saturday matinee. Tickets are $10. Reserve in advance by calling (301) 668-4090. For directions, click here.
